We are excited to relaunch Jurafide.com with the following new features:
(1) Membership Opened to the Public
We have relaxed the membership eligibility requirements in order to attract a wider range of lawyers and non-lawyers around the world to our membership. Now, anyone affiliated with a U.S. company or organization, including in-house counsel and overseas employees, may register as a "client." Also, any lawyer, from junior associate to senior partner, practicing law outside the United States may register as a "lawyer." In general, a "client" membership is designed to help individuals find outside counsel and resources regarding non-U.S. legal jurisdictions. A "lawyer" membership is intended to facilitate the efforts of individual lawyers and firms based outside the United States to market themselves to U.S. companies and organizations. For further information, please review Membership FAQ under "Registration/Eligibility."
(2) Linking Function That Allows Lawyers to Indicate Professional Connections
Lawyers occasionally form networks or alliances with their colleagues in other countries so that they are better positioned to serve clients on cross-border matters. Jurafide.com does not have an official relationship with any of these networks or alliances, but we do allow lawyers to indicate affiliations and to recognize each other. In addition, lawyers who are members of Jurafide.com and who work for the same law firm can choose to recognize each other as colleagues of the same firm. Profiles of these lawyers are linked, and these links provide an additional pathway through which Jurafide.com users can find a lawyer's profile.
(3) Pro Bono Field in Lawyer's Profile
We have created a new field in member lawyers' profiles that allows them to add information regarding their pro bono practice.
(4) Redesigned Homepage with New Boxes for "Requests from Clients" and "Tips"
In the past, when we received requests from member clients for lawyers or resources covering specific jurisdictions, topics, or practice areas, we posted them anonymously in periodic email newsletters to member lawyers. Now member clients can submit requests from their Account Page through a new "Make Request" feature. A request submitted in this way is then edited for anonymity and posted to the "Requests from Clients" box on the Jurafide.com homepage. Member lawyers are encouraged to check this box regularly and to update their profiles or submit resources in response.
We also have added a box on our homepage that displays tips to help members take advantage of the features available at the site. A member who wishes to have an explanation of any feature of the site is invited to submit a tip request to info@jurafide.com.
